Kirsten Short

President

Job: Strategic Program Manager at Tea Leaves Health

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Start getting involved right away! Come to our events or join our public service committee. This is a great way to get to know everyone and to get the most out of what Ad 2 Madison offers.

What’s your favorite social media network? Why? Facebook. I’ve used it for so long and now it gives me so much more than friends’ updates. I get my news, recipes and funny videos! I feel that its the all-encompassing social media network.

Fun fact: I once auditioned to be on the TV show Glee. Obviously I didn’t get cast, but it was an awesome experience!

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Join Public Service! It’s not only a great way to help out our community, but it’s a great way to learn new skills or continue developing others.

What’s your favorite social media network? Why? Twitter. It may be an unpopular choice, but they have a great writer/author community and is really fun to follow live event chatter.

Fun fact: I love to write Young Adult novels!

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Take advantage of the events. When I joined it was a great way to meet new people and I always learn something from each event.

What’s your favorite social media network? Why?
I love Snapchat. It’s a fun way to stay in touch with friends.

Fun fact: I lived in Dublin, Ireland for a summer when I was 20.

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Go to as many Ad 2 events as possible – it’s amazing how much you can learn!

What’s your favorite social media network? Why? Instagram. I love looking at photos!

Job: PR Counselor at Revelation PR, Advertising and Social Media

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Get involved right away. There are so many opportunities to share your knowledge, whether it’s joining a committee or Public Service. Everyone brings something unique to the table.

What is my favorite social media network? Why? Personally, I love Snapchat but professionally I’d have to say Twitter. It’s changed the way our industry gives/receives news.

Fun fact: I don’t like chocolate.

Job: Social Media & Interactive Specialist at Culvers

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? I recently joined Ad 2 Madison, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a really great way to meet like-minded young professionals in the Madison area and grow those relationships – both personally and professionally.

What is my favorite social media network? Why? Instagram. I loved Snapchat, but once Instagram Stories rolled out, I had the perfect excuse to spend less time checking updates on one app instead of three. I love storytelling through pictures and videos.

Fun fact: My extended family is huge – I have 44 first cousins!

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Come to all Ad 2 events, not just the education ones! It can be scary at first to socialize and network with people you don’t know but you never know what opportunity is right around the corner and being able to talk to people in our industry is a valuable skill to practice.

What is my favorite social media network? Why? Instagram because of the visual aspect. I love exploring all the beautiful photography and fashion that Instagram has to offer.

Fun fact: I absolutely LOVE Wisconsin Badger Basketball! I never miss watching or listening to a game.


McKenna Sokol

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Have so much fun! There are so many opportunities to meet new awesome people – take advantage of them!!

What is my favorite social media network? Why? I think Instagram has been and always will be my favorite. Not only is it great for sharing but it’s centered around curation, which I think is so cool!

Job: Social Media Coordinator for Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Join the Public Service Committee! Everyone comes together to hone their skills, learn new things and create a meaningful project for a local nonprofit. Plus, you’ll have opportunities to network and form deeper relationships with Ad 2 members.

What is my favorite social media network? Why? Instagram! I know it can be superficial at times, but in general I love that most people showcase positive things.

Fun fact: I am a great cook! I like to challenge myself by choosing random ingredients from the fridge or farmers market to create something new and interesting.

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Join Public Service! We have a lot of fun and work on a marketing project for a local non-profit. Bonus – it’s great experience!

What is my favorite social media network? Why? My favorite social media is Facebook. It’s got a little bit of everything – pictures, articles, news and great recipes!

Fun fact: My library card is my best friend.

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? Actively networking at all of the Ad 2 events because you never know who you’re going to meet or how those connections can benefit you down the line. I actually got my current position after meeting my bosses at the Ad 2 Madison Birthday Bash in 2016.

What is my favorite social media network? Why?  Instagram, because a picture is worth a thousand words.

Fun fact: I’m obsessed with my cat Monkey. I could probably talk about how adorable she is for hours.

What advice would you give Ad 2 members? My advice to Ad 2 members is to get involved as much as you can. Whether it is being a part of the Public Service team or just coming to all of the events, the opportunities are endless!

What’s your favorite social media network? Why? While I rarely tweet myself, I love Twitter for quick news, tidbits and to check out what people are saying on trending topics.
